Trail Overview

This 5-mile Empire State Trail section has varied conditions. The route starts at Fort Ann Village Park on Clay Hill Road, traveling north on the shoulders of local roads. It is appropriate for experienced, long-distance bicyclists comfortable riding next to vehicle traffic. The section ends in Comstock at the intersection of North Quarry Road and Route 22 (a busy state roadway). This 5-mile on-road route is not recommended for walkers or casual bicyclists due to hills and vehicle traffic. However, a three-quarter-mile off-road trail connects South and North Quarry Roads slightly south of Comstock – this 0.75-mile paved trail is an excellent place for a quiet, scenic walk through deep woods.

Cycling Directions
