Trail Overview

This 16-mile Empire State Trail section is an off-road stonedust trail welcoming bicyclists and walkers of all abilities (stonedust is finely-ground, compacted limestone, which provides a flat and durable trail surface). The trail starts in the Village of Middleport, and runs east on the Erie Canalway Trail to the Village of Albion. This scenic path is on the north side of the Erie Canal, providing sweeping vistas of agricultural fields, rural landscapes, and water views of boats and canal bridges and gates. Trailhead access points are available at a number of points along the route. Public services are available in the picturesque Villages of Middleport, Medina, and Albion (there are no services between the three villages).

Cycling Directions

Cue sheets provide step by step navigation instructions for cycling the trail in both directions.
