Hudson Valley On-Road Section

This 17-mile section is part of a longer 35-mile on-road Empire State Trail section, from Kingston to the City of Hudson, that is appropriate for experienced, long-distance bicyclists comfortable riding next to vehicle traffic. The section starts in the Village of Tivoli in Dutchess County, and heads north on scenic rural roads into Columbia County. The route follows local roads through woods, farmlands, orchards, and small hamlets. This section ends at a parking area adjacent to Olana State Historic Site, at the intersection of State Routes 23 and 9G.
