Trail Overview
This 9-mile Empire State Trail section is primarily off-road trail, welcoming bicyclists and walkers of all abilities (however there are several short sections adjacent to public roadways). The segment starts at Reed Webster Park in Camillus, running east for 3.5 miles on newly constructed off-road Erie Canalway Trail, to where the trail runs through the New York State Fairgrounds. The route then follows a bike-pedestrian bridge across I-690, intersecting with the spectacular Loop the Lake Trail on Lake Onondaga’s shoreline. After a quarter-mile section along Hiawatha Blvd West, the route follows the Creekwalk Trail for 1.5 miles into downtown Syracuse, where the off-road trail section ends at the intersection of West Genesee St and Wallace St. Parking is available at various locations along this segment. Visitor Services can be accessed in downtown Syracuse.
