Erie Canalway Trail

This 11-mile Empire State Trail section is a paved off-road trail welcoming bicyclists and walkers of all abilities. This new canalway trail starts 1 mile east of the Village of Frankfort, at the intersection of Route 5S and Acme Rd. The trail runs east to the Village of Little Falls, passing through scenic rural and agricultural landscapes, picturesque villages, and stunning views of the Mohawk River. Visitor services are available in the Villages of Frankfort, Ilion, Mohawk, and Little Falls. Additional trailhead parking areas are located at Ilion Marina, Fort Herkimer Church, and Canal Lock E-18.
